Whitegrove Wanderers 1 v
3 Curley Park Broncos
The Broncos traveled to Whitegrove to find excellent
all round facilities, not only were the pitches in immaculate
condition but the bacon rolls were pretty good as well.
The Broncos had to reshape as Jake failed a late fitness test
which meant Alex had to go in goal as he did earlier in the
season against the Wanderers. With the game kicking off late
due to the earlier game over running meant that the lads were
well warmed up which was noticeable straight from the kick
off. In the 1st min, having won possession the Broncos attacked
and Andrew had his shot pushed round the post, from the resulting
corner, skipper for the day Sam G ran in from the left, was
first to react to the loose ball and somehow managed to loop
the ball up and into the top right hand corner (1-0).
The Wanderers were finding it hard to clear their lines as
the Broncos began to enjoy their fair share of possession
with Josh and Sam G finding plenty of space out wide and Andrew
being as efficient as ever and winning plenty of balls in
the middle of the park. This was rewarded on 10 mins when
another shot from Andrew from just outside the box was well
saved by the keeper but Keegan followed in and was first to
react to the rebound and slotted home the second (2-0). The
Wanderers were pushing men forward and beginning to look dangerous
on the break which called for some stern defending by James
who made a couple of good interceptions and Richard who was
breaking up play and pushing forward when possible. Just before
the break Keegan nearly scored his second of the match when
he ran onto a through ball only to hit the side netting.
The Wanderers started the second half in similar fashion to
the Broncos did the first when they breached the Broncos defense
in the first minute of the half and forced a fine save from
Alex. A minute later another good attack ended in another
shot going just wide of the Broncos goal. The game started
to go from end to end as Keegan crossed for Ciaron, whose
shot was well saved by the keeper. Sam L was now playing on
the right hand side of midfield and making use of the space
available, on 32 mins he produced a lovely cross to Keegan
whose opportunist effort came back off the post. A minute
later Keegan returned the compliments with a lay off to Sam
L whose shot went just wide. The Wanderers continued to look
more dangerous throughout the half and the Broncos defense
was being tested. Midway through the half however Keegan made
things more comfortable when he ran on to a ball from midfield
to coolly slot home (3-0). Sam G had an effort go just wide
5 mins from time and with full time fast approaching the Wanderers
continued to press forward and thoroughly deserved their goal
in the last minute when their forward ran on to a through
ball and slotted past Alex (3-1).
The Broncos barely had time to kick off as the full time whistle
ended a thoroughly enjoyable game which was played in a good
spirit.
Another good performance lads !
