CPR Broncos 5 vs Whitegrove Wanderers 1

The Broncos managed to produce another good all round performance against the Wanderers even though Jake was unavailable and Sam L had migrated ‘down under’ for Christmas.

Things may well have been different if the Wanderers had taken the lead in the first minute when Alex, our stand in keeper for the day gifted their forward with the ball from a goal kick but fortunately for the Broncos the shot went just wide.

Having survived the early pressure the Broncos started to settle down and enjoy some possession which produced a couple of well taken corners by Ciaron. The Wanderers though were battling well and clearing their lines with some solid defending. With 12 mins gone though the Wanderers defense was breached when Andrew won a ball in midfield and passed to Keegan who was unmarked on the edge of the box, turned and shot into the bottom right hand corner (1-0). Josh was rewarded for his hard work in midfield not long after as he was first to react to a loose ball in the Wanderers penalty area, with everyone else standing still he hit a first time shot that ended up in the back of the net (2-0).

The Wanderers to their credit still kept pushing forward and ended up nearly reducing the deficit just before half time when their forward put another good opportunity just wide.

The second half started pretty much the same as the first with the Wanderers pushing forward but James and Richard were both battling well at the back to clear any danger. With 5 mins of the second half gone saw the move of the game by far, Richard intercepted a through ball in his own half and played it up to Josh on the halfway line who controlled the ball well and dribbled forward before passing to Keegan who took the ball wide, beating a defender on his way, and crossing a lovely ball back from the byline to Andrew who had timed his run perfectly to score our third. (great goal).

The Wanderers still kept their heads up and they were rewarded 5 mins later when they broke forward and whistled a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner to make it 3-1. With the Broncos always looking dangerous going forward a couple of late goals by Sam G and Andrew made the points safe on what was a good overall team performance.

A big thank-you goes to Alex for playing the full game in goal even though he was itching to join in on the action out on the pitch.
