Curley Park Broncos 1 v 1 Sandhurst Swallows

The Broncos shared the points with a well organized Swallows team in this evenly contested match which could have easily gone either way. The Swallows started well and put the Broncos under some early pressure with a free kick from just outside the box and a couple of corners in quick succession. The Broncos did manage to assert some pressure themselves with a couple of good passing moves through the midfield but the Swallows were looking dangerous on the break and Richard and Alex had to be on their guard. The deadlock was broken on 10 mins when the Broncos failed to clear their lines from a probing cross into the box, the ball fell to a Swallows player 5 yards out who shot through a crowd of players to open the scoring (0-1).

This seemed to lift the Broncos and although not creating too many opportunities began to look more threatening. Andrew created our first real effort of the game on 15 mins when he won the ball in a crowded Swallows penalty area only to see his shot hit the bar. On 20 mins however the Broncos did level the scores when Richard picked up a ball from a throw in and hit an unstoppable shot from 25 yards that the keeper could not get to as it hit the underside of the bar and went in (1-1). The half time whistle blew and ended a fairly even half.

The second half started similar to the first with the Broncos giving away possession unnecessarily and the Swallows attacking in numbers although not really threatening Jake to much. When the Broncos did push forward themselves the final ball was missing on a couple of occasions to create any real decent opportunity. With the game so tight a goal for either side would have been enough and midway through the half the Swallows pushed forward to see an effort go just wide of the post. The Broncos were desperately trying to produce the winner themselves and following some good work in midfield had a couple of shots from the edge of the box that were saved by the Swallows keeper. With only 5 mins to go the Broncos created their best chance of the game when a cross from Josh on the right fell to Sam G whose first time effort went wide.

The full time whistle blew on a game where both teams battled well and deserved a share of the points.
