Sandhurst Sparrowhawks 1 v 3 Curley Park Broncos

With the fairly small pitch making it an enthralling end to end game, the Broncos came out on top in a game which if not for the woodwork could have gone either way.
The Broncos started well with the Sparrowhawks being regimental at the back by not over committing players forward.

On 5 mins a well worked corner saw Andrew find himself unmarked in the penalty box with time to control and neatly slot the ball home (1-0).
The Sparrowhawks were battling well in midfield and starting putting the Broncos under some pressure with some good work of their own which resulted in them winning a couple of corners in quick succession.

On 10 mins James, Ciaron and Andrew combined well which resulted in Josh laying off a ball to Keegan who’s shot from outside the box went just over. The Sparrowhawks did manage to get back on level terms on 15 mins when a good run from midfield together with a bit of hesitant defending enabled a first time shot that rifled past Jake and into the net (1-1).

With the game locked at 1-1 the Broncos best opportunities were being created from corners with some good movement around the edge of the box making it difficult to defend. With the Sparrowhawks themselves winning a corner just before half time a lovely ball to the far post was met well only to come back off the post.
The Broncos began to enjoy a bit more possession in the second half and managed to pin the Sparrowhawks back in their own half. Sam L and Sam G where both battling well in midfield and finding space on the wings to exploit. This was rewarded on 31 mins when Richard pushed forward from the half way line to hit a shot from outside the box which was saved but Andrew followed up and managed to knock past the keeper (2-1).

With the Sparrowhawks determined to get straight back into the game they pushed forward from the kick off and within a minute unleashed a shot from the edge of the box which looked like it was nestling into the bottom left hand corner, Jake however had other ideas and somehow produced the most magnificent save by far this season by diving to his right and pushing the ball onto the post and recovering to smother the rebound. With only 10 mins to go Sam G made the points safe when Richard won possession and passed to Sam on the half way line who used his pace to go on his own down the left flank and shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.
The full time whistle ended what was another enthralling game of which the Broncos were rewarded for their hard work and good team spirit.
A special thanks to David Parker for doing a fine job running the line.

Well done lads !
