CPR Broncos 1 vs Reeves
Rangers 0
The Broncos produced their best performance
by far this season to achieve a well deserved victory over
Reeves Rangers in a closely fought Div 3 clash.
With both teams being unbeaten in the league there was never
going to be much in it to decide the outcome.
The Broncos started well and although having the disadvantage
of playing up a slight hill began to put pressure on the Reeves
defense with some fantastic approach play through midfield.
The commitment was there for all to see, Andrew was winning
everything that came his way in midfield be it in the air
or on the ground. Not only that but he was also making good
passes out wide to Josh who was managing to find plenty of
space to attack down the wing. With the chances starting to
fall only a couple of great saves from the Reeves keeper kept
the scores level. Richard and Alex were both looking strong
at the back, they were covering one another well and both
making some fine tackles to win back possession. On the couple
of times that Reeves did manage to break through on goal Jake
was there to make a couple of very important saves. Our best
chance of the half came on 15 minutes when Keegan’s
shot was parried by the keeper out to Sam G who also saw the
keeper somehow make a second magnificent save.
With the half time whistle ending a tremendous first 25 mins
morale was high for a repeat performance in the second half.
Ciaron and Sam L came on for Sam G and Josh and settled straight
into the game. The tempo was high and the Broncos continued
to put Reeves under pressure. With us now having the slight
down hill advantage Reeves were finding it hard to get out
of their half mainly due to the presence of Andrew and some
fine all round tackling from everyone. Another good Broncos
move down the left by Ciaron, Andrew and Richard resulted
in another fine effort from Keegan being saved by the keeper
who by now was beginning to look unbeatable.
Although time was ticking away the Broncos kept their shape
which was a key part to the outcome of the game. With 15 mins
left Richard won the ball just inside the Reeves half and
pushing forward shot for goal, the keeper was there again
but could only manage to push out to the on rushing Ciaron
who made no mistake in hitting first time into the net.
Reeves pushed men forward looking for an equalizer from which
the Broncos counter attacked, Sam L played a great ball to
Keegan who managed to beat the keeper but was this time denied
by the post. With Reeves pushing on again James came on in
midfield and battled well in breaking down possession. With
only minutes remaining a cross from the left was comfortably
caught by Jake who was grateful to clear his lines.
The full time whistle blew on what was a thoroughly deserved
win.
A tremendous TEAM performance all round
lads !
