Broncos match report -
Saturday 3rd December 2005
CPR Broncos 3 vs Bracknell
Blades 1
A
first half hat-trick by Keegan was enough to secure the points
for the Broncos as they continued their impressive form in
the league.
The first goal came on 5 mins when a shot from Andrew was
saved by the keeper from which James followed in for the rebound
only for the keeper to somehow block again of which Keegan
pounced and managed to bundle over the line from close range.
The early goal settled the Broncos and they started playing
some attractive football.
With Bracknell getting more into the game, they started to
look more threatening going forward. On a couple of occasions
the use of a long throw was used to pin the Broncos back in
their penalty area of which only some good defending from
Richard and Alex kept the Blades at bay. On 17 mins however
Keegan was on hand again to score his second as he reaped
the rewards for persistence by pouncing on a loose ball which
the Blades keeper was unable to hold. The Broncos again started
piling on the pressure with some great work in midfield by
James, Andrew and Josh who were battling well for everything.
A succession of three well taken corners followed of which
the Blades were grateful to clear their lines each time with
some good runs being made into the box by the Broncos. On
20 mins though Josh won a tackle in midfield and passed inside
to James who knocked a lovely ball through to Keegan who lost
his marker, turned and slotted neatly past the keeper for
what was his best goal of the game.
The pressure continued with Josh having a shot from the edge
of the box go just wide on 22 mins and a fine move followed
shortly after when Andrew won a ball in midfield, pushed forward
and played the ball up to Keegan who flicked the ball onto
Andrew who had continued his run and produced a great save
from the Blades keeper.
With half time approaching the Blades kept going and knocked
a long ball forward over the top of the Broncos defense for
their forward to chase of which Jake was alert to race out
of his penalty area and clear to safety.
The half time whistle blew on what was an impressive first
half performance.
Ciaron replaced Josh at half time and competed well in what
was a totally different second half. The Blades came out of
the traps fast and Jake had to make another impressive save
in the first minute. With the Blades beginning to look more
dangerous going forward some desperate tackling by the Broncos
on 7 mins resulted in a penalty. The penalty was taken sweetly
which Jake made a terrific effort to save but was unfortunate
not to keep it out. With the Blades now back in the game some
careless play by the Broncos gave them another effort a minute
later which went just wide.
The game ebbed and flowed after that with the Broncos just
managing to keep a grip on the game. With a couple of minutes
to go our best effort of the half was created with Keegan
crossing for Andrew who put just wide.
The full time whistle blew on a well fought match which had
some good individual performances but couldn’t compare
to the overall team performance of the previous week.
Well done lads !
