Chiefs match report -
Saturday 17th December 2005
Home to California
Hawks 7-2
The Curley Park spectators had a good feel before
this game against the California Hawks and the Chiefs didn’t
let us down.
The match started well with some good football
from both sides; the Chiefs were still looking very vulnerable
when the Hawks broke, with our midfield slow to support the
defence. But, within 10 minutes, Drew had a break from midfield
and took the ball through to score the 1st goal; Drew celebrated
with his traditional celebration!
Following the 1st goal, Sam W passed to Drew
who passed to Sam H to chip the goalie only for it to hit
the far post; great football. From Nick’s goal kick,
Drew took the ball, chipped the defence and Sam H knocked
the ball into the goal (2-0). Sam H, feeling very confident,
completed a great solo run from our defence and scored (3-0);
Drew provided a great assistance in taking the defence away
from Sam H. From a corner, Sam H nicked the ball into the
goal to achieve his hat trick (4-0).
Well done Sam H!
The Coach decided to change things around for
the 2nd half. The Chiefs started the 2nd half feeling confident
for another 3 points in the bag and with Jamie pass to Dan
to score (5-0) this looked understandable. A strange series
of events led to a free kick for the Hawks following Nick
handling the ball just outside his area, allowed the Hawks
to take a quick free kick and scored (5-1).
Again, the Hawks were on a break and our mid-field
were nowhere to be seen, resulting in the Hawks chipping over
our goalie to score the Hawks second goal (5-2). The Coach
was worried that the Chiefs might throw away the 3 points
brought Sam H back on for Sam W and he soon repaid the Coach
with his 4th goal from Drew’s pass (6-2). Not to be
outdone and his 1st this season, Jamie scored making it 7-2.
This match report wouldn’t be complete
without a mention of our great defence team, Alex & Harry.
(Harry, I’m sure the Coach will allow you out of defence
on some of the team’s outings soon!)
The games finished 7-2
Happy Christmas & an even more successful New Year!
