Chiefs match report -
Saturday 5th November 2005
CPR Chiefs 2 vs Laurel
Park Hurricanes 2
Cup Game- 2nd Round
Our 2nd cup game this season lead us to
Laurel Park on a cold but sunny Saturday morning.
The 1st half started well with some good attacking play. This
led to our 1st corner taken by Sam W which Dan deftly flicked
into the goal. The team continued to play well with a number
of missed opportunities to put some more goals on the board.
The Hurricanes managed to equalise from a goal kick. This
gave both teams the desire to go out and win the game. Again,
from a goal kick an alleged hand ball incident, the Hurricanes
won a free kick just outside the box. From a great free kick
the Hurricanes found the top corner of the goal (2-1) and
before the end of the 1st half Nick managed a save as the
ball on the line.
The 2nd half started as the 1st with a number of great attacking
plays but all failed to find the goal. The Hurricanes did
have some useful breaks and twice Nick bravely came out to
make important saves. Drew (on for Sam W) managed to develop
two goal opportunities but the ball got too close to the goalie
to save.
Sam H (on for Jack M) saved the match with a last minute chip
of the goalie to finish the match a draw.
The games finished 2-2
